My husband and I have purchased our first travel trailer and I don't know what we would do without your dvd! It is so full of information and it has been a real help to us time and time again. Our next purchase will be the one on winterization. Thanks so much for the education." ....Kathie DeFuria

EDITORIAL BY MARK
Hi Everybody,
I would like to start by personally thanking everybody that wrote with encouragement and concern about our dog Gracie. She was diagnosed with life-threatening pneumonia. With the excellent care and professionalism of the staff at the NC State veterinary school ( and lots of medicine) Gracie is back home with us, and on her way to what looks like a full recovery.
We are preparing for our winter RV trip to Pennsylvania over the long Thanksgiving weekend. Camping in your RV during the cold winter months can be fun, but there are certain precautions you must take. If you missed last months feature article it discussed some of the concerns you need to address when camping in cold weather.
This week we introduced The RV Seminar DVD 6PACK. After collecting a great deal of feedback from RVers who attend seminars all over the country I determined that live seminar presentations can not always offer numerous and sometimes cumbersome visual aids to effectively get the point across. That was the thought behind our new RV video seminar series. Seminars in video format allow me to present valuable information, using detailed graphics. It is the perfect solution to help educate the RV consumer.
Our 4 and 6 DVD box sets will be on sale for the Christmas holiday season from 15 November thru 20 December. They make a great stocking stuffer for your favorite RVer. The 4 DVD box set will be on sale for $59.95 (regular $69.95) and the 6 DVD box set will be on sale for $89.95 (regular $99.95) so check back at www.rveducation101.com on the 15th of November.
As you are aware we always include a free video tip in our monthly newsletter. Next month we are adding a new segment called RV Buzz with Mark Polk. RV Buzz is the mascot for RV Education 101. If you have viewed some of our more recent DVD titles you already met RV Buzz. In our newsletter, RV Buzz will offer informative audio Q&A by Mark on various RV related topics. We plan to rotate between the free video tips and the RV Buzz audio tips in future newsletters. Write and let me know what topics and questions you would like covered in future RV Buzz segments. I can't answer every question I get, but hopefully some of the already posted material will help.
Thanks again to all of you and enjoy the newsletter.
Until next month Happy Thanksgiving,
Mark
Arm Yourself with Qualified RV Buying Information, Before you Buy Your RV! ....
Q: Should I shop around for a better interest rate, or will the rate the RV Dealer offers be the best rate I can get?
Mark Says: You should be aware of what the current interest rates are for RV loans and based on the criteria listed, determine if you are getting the best possible rate you can get. If you think you qualify for a lower rate, by all means try securing a better rate elsewhere. There are several RV specialty lenders on the internet that would like your business and will offer competitive rates. Do not however let too many lenders run a credit check on you to try and get a lower rate. This can backfire so be selective about who is running credit checks on you. If lenders make several inquires on your credit history your credit score will be lowered causing you to get a higher interest rate. The reason for this is when banks see numerous inquires they are under the impression that you are having trouble securing a loan and could be a credit risk to the bank

A. To look at the service department.
B. If they have certified RV technicians and the capability and facilities to do routine maintenance and warranty work on the units they sell?
C. If they offer a good selection of parts and accessories?
D. All of the above

Q & A by Mark Polk
*NOTE: At Mark's discretion, material might be edited to suit a wide audience. Due to the large volume of material and correspondence we receive, individual replies might not be possible, nor can we acknowledge receipt of submitted material. Selected questions will be answered in future issues of our RV Education 101 newsletter and on our site. Thank-you for your understanding.
Q 1. What brand of trailer tire is considered good and reliable?
Q 2. My wife & I are planning on towing an RV trailer with our 4 cyl. Toyota Tacoma, 4x4. What is the towing restrictions we have to adhere to so as not to harm our vehicle?
Q 3. I have an 07 Georgetown 373 class A. When I'm not hooked up to city water and using the water pump it pulses when it runs. It seems to stop & start while a faucet is on. I just bought the unit new last May & I only have 5000 miles on the coach. Any ideas why this is happening?
Q 4. My wife and I converted a Springdale rv into a mobile kitchen. We live in Denver, CO where the winters can be harsh. During our cooking in our rv we use water everyday. If we keep the water in our tanks during the cold days and nights, will that freeze and burst our pipes our or tanks? It would be a great hassle to get fresh water and to dump water everyday if need be. When we store our trailer overnight I can use an external power source for my heater. Can I keep that running during the night to keep the tanks from freezing?

LEARNING TO DRIVE YOUR NEW RV
You can't wait to begin your next RV adventure but your unit looks so big, how will you ever learn to handle it? Don't despair.
With a little practice it won’t be much different than driving a car.
Many RVers sign up for a truck driving course, others participate
in classroom instruction such as 55 Alive sponsored by AARP
or a local defensive driving organization.
Or find an empty shopping mall during quiet times to practice parking, backing up and overall handling of your unit. Set up pylons (or plastic buckets) as a guide. If you travel with a partner this may be a good time to set up parking hand signals. Next take a drive on secondary roads where traffic is minimal until you feel comfortable behind the wheel. Becoming aware of how the wind and passing trucks affect your unit is also important.
Ladies, a good reason for you to learn to drive is to be able to do so in an emergency. It's much too difficult to learn to handle your large RV while dealing with a sick partner or bad situation.
--------------------------I was recently privileged to preview Mark Polk's "RV Campground Basics DVD"- part of his New Seminar Series. Mark gives an overview of all types of camping spots, how to find a campground; how to set-up; campground etiquette, even pre-trip checks to ensure you arrive safely.. Read More

If you want to lease/rent your RV
you will first want to explore your insurance options. The cost of insurance for having rental coverage can be very high and few insurance companies offer it. If you rent your RV without such coverage’s, however, there are usually exclusions in your RV policy that prohibit such use. Therefore, if a renter has an accident or causes damage, your insurance company will most likely deny the claim. If you intend to use your RV for other business uses, such as a mobile hotel, an onsite business location, a mobile service business, or other sales-related uses, the RV must be under a commercial policy. Most commercial vehicle policies do not have specialized RV coverage’s. A few companies, such as National Interstate, do offer a commercial policy for RV’s used in business.
If unsure if you are covered, you may want to check with your insurance agent to see if you have this valuable coverage.

About us:
Our goal with this monthly newsletter is to provide you with helpful
information to make all of your RV experiences more enjoyable. I left my
position as an RV Sales and F&I manager in 2000 to start my own company, RV
Education 101. We produce educational videos, DVDs and e-books on how to use and
maintain your RV. The reason I left my job was due to my concern about the lack
of educational and safety awareness material available to the RV consumer, in
other words, you. We are a small company. My wife Dawn left her position in RV
sales to help start the company and is our Sales and Marketing Director. We
currently have a 35-foot Class A motor home. We have two boys, Tyler 10 and Josh 17, both avid RVers and two dogs, Gracie and Buck. Gracie is the good one. If
